By default, cPanel only allows cPanel accounts to backup to either FTP, FTPS, SCP or Home Directory locations. But the cheapest and potentially more reliable form of storage for small business or home users is actually to use cloud storage providers such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive etc.
What we’ve done for you is pulled together third party libraries to make a series of comprehensive guides that allow you to upload your backups to various Cloud Providers. These guides can also be used to upload any type of file/folder to your Cloud Provider from your web host, not just backup files.
All you will need is:
- SSH client e.g. PUTTY
- SSH access to a shared hosting account. (Most shared hosting providers should provide this on request).
- Cloud Storage Provider (Google etc).
- A small amount of your time.
